2020 has been an unprecedented year and something that brought forward challenges for almost all of us. So many people couldn`t see their loved ones, spent days in isolation and many more challenges but most importantly, people came together when it meant the most. It won`t be entirely wrong to say that the year 2020 has been a trying year in many different ways. So from our guild to your guild and to all who follow us on our blog, we wish you all a healthy, Happy New Year for 2021.

Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas

Next time your at the Piccadilly Mall stop by the 🎄 Shuswap Spinners and Weavers display window at the main mall entrance. Karol, a new member of the guild has taken on the job of changing the window each month. What a beautiful "Christmassy" display! 🎁

Judith a long time member of the guild has recently moved closer to be near family. We miss her very much . Judith says ....

"Done just in time for Christmas!" It's 2/8 cotton, undulating twill, repeating warp colours as weft colours.

Best wishes for a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.

Miss you all. Please pass on my best wishes to everyone. Judith

The snow came just in time for the first day of winter.

What a beautiful day out there.

Happy Solstice everyone. 🌨⛄❄

Jacquie is another guild member. This is her last "2020" Happy Towel warp" - they were headed to Artsolutely in Vernon.  Wishing everyone a good holiday season and a wonderful 2021. Jacquie 🎄

A post by Louise Smith, one of our guild members. Her Facebook page is "Lady Weaving in the Woods". She says ... I have completed this Ruana for an order. 100% Alpaca natural grays and choc brown with some pale gray overdyed teal and dark gray for the plaid. Washed and fulled which results in a soft, warm garment. Two long rectangles were woven and then handstitched 36" up the back matching the plaids. Stitched my design label at the inside back neckline to reinforce the back seam. 4 shaft twill. 56" across width of back and 72" plus 3" fringes in total length. Knee length on a 5'6" person. Ready for winter chills with this ruana.

We would like to thank Centenoka Park Mall for providing the Shuswap Spinners and Weavers a space to host their Annual Christmas Event. This event was run like a store to coincide with the malls Covid guidelines. We had at least 100 people come through each day and it was a success! This years displays were organized by colour and each table had their own colour theme. Thank you to the team that put this event together along with all the volunteers, it was greatly appreciated. We would also like to thank all the shoppers for supporting the guild.

Thank you, stay safe and Merry Christmas. 🎄

Just wanted to thank the Shuswap Spinners and Weavers for letting us use your window at the Piccadilly Mall for our Remembrance Day display.  I've attached a picture of what we did. That window turned out to be the perfect size for what we wanted to do this year.

Please thank your members for us. Looking forward to your upcoming sale!

Sandra, Shuswap Needle Arts Guild.

Socially Distanced Felting Workshop

I had 10 busy students felting seamless slippers Saturday. Spread out for safety-and shade. They all went home with a pair of new slippers. Now to start prep work for a repeat workshop this Wednesday. Sharon from Homespun Haven, Armstrong. B.C.

Old or New Gallery?

I was cleaning out some of my art stuff and found this article in Galleries West magazine from the summer of 2010. The camper was engaged as a mobile unit attending festivals etc. to connect with people who would never step into a gallery. I'm thinking it would have been an idea for a Covid summer! Just 10 years ahead of its time. Sharon.

A group of ladies met at the Salmon Arm wharf Friday, August 14th to spin. Small but an enjoyable turnout. So nice to enjoy the great outdoors and our craft at the same time.
