June was our Annual Pot Luck
monthly meeting,
we always have great food at our potlucks!
We had a Sheep themed Show and Tell this month.
We would like to welcome our newest members that attended and
welcome too to our guests that were brought to our meeting by a member.

Wonderful buffet spread!

Lots of desserts too!

Sherry our President started off our meeting by welcoming our new members and guests.

We also had our elections at this meeting.

Thank you to our new executive and volunteers for taking on the many positions for our club.
Now for our Show and Tell

Carolyn stitched a framed wall hanging.

Anne's fine knitting - white sheep on a dark background.

Sheep transparency in a hoop frame.  Wendy thinks I was only taking
a picture of her hoop, that's why her arm is outstretched.

4 Sheep in a frame.

Wendy's pencil sketch of her Cheviot Sheep.

Ann's sheep knit into her tiny sock.

Ann's second sheep made from a roving.

Allie knit a brown and white sweater with a sheep pattern.
Noelle's headband with the sheep from Allie's pattern.

Gabriele showed us her cake form she has had since she was a child.
She made a sheep cake for the potluck.

Mona's felted Sheep pillow.

Sharon's Sheep towels made for hanging off her oven door.

Michelle's felted sheep.

Jennifer's Howie the sheep with a had!

Myrna made a needle felted frog. She was wearing it on her blouse.
Bev made a "tapestry" sheep loom bench cover.

Jacquie's sheep pot.

Margaret knit her grandson a baby blanket.  He already received his gift.

Darlene's transparency sheep, and a small knitted sheep.

Anne C.'s Sheep baked onto mugs.

We have at least 5 Ann's, Anne's in our group!

Judith's handspun, dyed and knit sheep and her
colour gamp bag she sewed.  Louise wove her
gamp cloth using white and black for the weft.
This is Louise's Guild of Canadian Weavers exchange tea
towel.  It is a shadow weave done with red and white in the
warp with blue and white in the weft which gives one a
totally different finished look than if one only used 2
colours in the weft.

Loanna's "Grazing Sheep" hat
and Sheepish Coffee Cup Cozies.
Sherry's felted purse with her sheep roaming in the pasture!

Discussion on Possible new Loom

-Ann N as equipment person explained that we have a 12 Shaft Woolhouse large loom, the 8 shaft Schacht baby wolf and a 8S Woolhouse table loom.

2 – 4 Shaft Nilus LeClerc looms and numerous other 4 shaft table looms.

- Ann has transported the LeClerc looms to sheep to shawl, any loom requires 2 people to transport.

-If we bought another floor loom something would need to be sold such as 1 of the 4S LeClercs since we do not have physical room.

-Louise S asked why we are thinking of buying another identical loom to the baby wolf we already have?
-Should we not have several brands so members can try different ones out before buying their own.  Everyone has their own preference after working with several.
-All of our looms are great, nothing wrong with any of them.
-What reasons are we thinking of for buying another loom?  Do we need more 8 S looms? Do we need portable looms? How often do they need to be moved?  How many people come to the guild room to weave? How many of our members actually weave? How many only weave at their own home?
-Have we investigated other brands of looms, such as Macomber, LeClerc, Louet, etc.?
-Lis B commented that it is nice to work on good equipment.
-Sara H asked -Do we have the money to spend?  Can we afford to spend half of our reserves?
29 Paper ballots were passed around and marked, then collected in a bag and counted.4 emailed votes were also counted
1. Yes to buy a new Schacht 8S loom                                          12
2. No don’t buy a new loom                                                           9
3. Leave until Oct meeting to think & further discussion.       12
29 present voters and 4 emailed votes =    total votes 33
We will revisit this question at the Oct meeting, hopefully with more answers to our questions.
Spin Out by Bea and Marianne
Date Oct 26th  at St Joseph’s Catholic Church-same place as last 2 years.
Committee- Bea J, Marianne M, Marg F  and 2 or 3 more people would be nice.
Job List was passed around, Contact Bea if you want to join her committee.
Registration will be thru Sherry B
The Spin out committee will get an advance at the Oct Meeting to cover costs.
New Business
Marianne M wondered about more Community Involvement-  Making things and donating them to groups, etc. Hospice and Transition houses have material restrictions due to washing.  Lynne Anderson suggested making extra things on our group projects, selling them at sales with a sign that the proceeds would be donated to a certain cause.   That way the charity can use the money as they need to, the person buying the item feels good and we make a community donation.
