December Show and Tell

The green yarn is 85% polyworth 15% silk,
Ann also spun a natural colour cotton which
was in the brown paper bag.

Gudie has been upcycling again, she made these
fingerless gloves from a sweater.

Gudie is doing a piece on Jean Ethridge in
conjunction with the Art Gallery called
 In Conversation with the Artist.
This is a piece that was inspired by the artist
Gudie is working on.

Carole had her own show and tell sharing the beautiful
craft work from the people of Nepal and Thailand.  
She brought back  many gifts for her family 
from this trip.

November Show and Tell
Barb has felted around her homemade soap and then
embroidered a snowflake on the top.

Louise has been knitting with this lovely soft alpaca
and made this scarf you can wear in different ways.

Jillian made her own fibre from leaves. 
Google Sarah Sweet's blog on preserving
leaves using glycerin. Jill used that method
 then pulled the leaves apart to make her
string, then plyed it together. 
What an interesting process!

Jazmiyn of Grow and Change is a new member
to our guild, she has her own Cotswold Border
Cheviots. Above is a sample of her wool.

Loanna's knitted more children's shoes for this
years holiday season.  She's also been knitting
leaves and making these beautiful cards.

Jennifer took a felting workshop and made
these two purses.

Christmas Craft and Bake Sale
held in Blind Bay.

Ann took a weaving course and found these reed
holders to be quite handy. She went home made
some adjustments and came up with her own wooden
reed holders.  If your interested in one she has them for
sale. This is a cotton/alpaca/silk warp and she made this
scarf/sash with 3 alpaca colours for the weft.

Ann made this beautiful quilted winter picture.

Ann made these two plaid blankets with this German
Yarn she had.  It is 30% mohair, 32% acrylic and 38% nylon.
Ann also was gifted some alpaca/merino yarn and knitted that
Finland scarf above.

Lynne took a dyeing course through Maiwa
School of Textiles.  This was a scarf she made
in class.
These were samples of fibres Lynne dyed, next
time she will have them spread out for us to look
at.  She just got back from Vancouver and her
samples were still damp.

Sharon has been doing some housekeeping in
her studio, here she found an IPE paper that
is 99 years old!

Sharon is in another play called "Odd Jobs"
here at the Shuswap Theatre.  Check your
paper for the next showing!

Meeting called to Order at 7:00 p.m. by President Sherry Barker

Short presentation by Jill Wickware and Carolyn Visser about the Cotton Blanket/Tablecloth large loom project.  They had a woven sample possibility to show and asked people to sign up if interested.   Estimated around a $10 - 15.00 cost.
No changes to Oct minutes so Acceptance of Oct minutes as written.
Additions to Agenda- 1. Discuss time allotted for fibres unlimited for night
                                        meetings
                                    2. Discuss Equipment

Librarian Report : Gabriele C - New Handwoven magazine is in Guild room.  Books will be renumbered in the new year.

Equipment report: by Ann N.  Our 60” temple/stretcher is missing we will need it for future projects on the large loom.  Please return it as soon as possible if you have borrowed it.   (Not signed out in book )
Ann wanted to know if we would use 10 dent reeds, a hackle, etc if the guild bought new ones- please let her know if you would use new equipment.
A NEW RED BOOK is in the library with all the Equipment and library inventories listed, a new membership list and all the guild policies.   If you have any questions please refer to this RED BOOK.
It will be updated as necessary when things change.

Workshop report: Louise S-  Please check the sign up sheets for the upcoming workshops.  Notices have gone out to other guilds so first paid now reserves their spot.

Blog report : Bea J  - Pictures of Spin out are on Facebook, For Sale Ads on Blog , several looms, etc , everything is up to date.

Historian Report : Wendy L - she has taken older pictures and inserted them in older scrapbooks, needs help to label pictures.

Face book -all up to date , Lisa I does it from afar.

Scholarships: Judith G - nothing to report at this time.  Think about next year if you are attending any non beginner ANWG pre conference workshops.

Old Business:
Spin Out Report: Marianne M- 5 Page written report, with recommendations for next year.  Same committee for next year which will be our 5th annual Spin Out.  Made some money, will not need any advance money next year.

Piccadilly Mall Display: Lis B - On Tuesday night the window display will be changed to show items available at the Christmas Sale, Lis will bring items to the Xmas Sale for anyone bringing items for the window display.

Christmas Sale Report: Judith G
-Arranging tables and props and tablecloths from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
-Bring your stuff to set up at 8:30 a.m. Not any earlier.
-DO NOT remove your items until after 4:00 p.m.  People are still buying.
-Lis will bring Xmas Music
-Bring 2 copies of your inventory- 1 for sales desk and 1 for Jacquie to work on thru the day.  Every item no matter how small must be labelled individually with 3 initials, and item # , Price , care instructions and material content.  This is Consumer Canada law. 
-Prices should be round numbers or 50 cent increments (NO .98 or .99 cent endings)
-There will be 3 pay stations
-Sign up to help on sheets for the jobs from beginning to end of the sale
- Gabriele will do Tea room with help from Carole Berube
- Guild will buy a new coffee pot.
- BRING BITE SIZED GOODIES for the tea tables, non sticky, Gabriele does not have the time or equipment to cut things up.
-There are 6-8 car parking spots behind the building when you are unloaded.
-Let Judith know the size of any of your props so she can plan where they are going to be placed.
