October Show and Tell

Welcome to our new members that joined our group over the summer!
I'm sure at least four new members were at our October meeting.

Elvi finished the shawl from the Sheep to Shawl
competition that was made at the Salmon Arm Fall Fair

Elvi has been busy making tea towels
over the summer.

This was an end piece from the blanket
project on our guild loom.

These were all made by Elvi.

To top it off she even had time to compete in
dragon boats and came home with a medal!

Lis has been working on this shawl and
wondered about putting a finishing touch
on it.  Anything in purple catches m eye!

 She thought a nice broach
would work.

Here's another shawl she wove.

You can call it a scrappy sweater because Noelle
used all of her left over yarn for this gorgeous
children's sweater, but really look how she had
enough yarn to have all the colours in the
right places!

Michele using different colours!

So Michele is still experimenting with making
felted shawls, love the colours and textures.
This is the back side

The front of the shawl!

Learning about different wool's, thick,
thin, which one makes it heavy or not.

Experimenting with ideas from friends,
Michele is loving all this felting!

Bea sewed this bag with left over material she
had on hand there are lots of pockets on the inside.

Knitted toques, getting ready for winter.
Liz knit these up!

Every time Maureen shows up for Show and Tell
she amazes us with her creations! She knit this shawl
with the owl on it, unreal! Those are not real feathers,
Maureen knit everyone of them. For the name of this
pattern you will have to ask Maureen.

I'm sorry I didn't get a much better picture!
Still just so beautiful!

A sweater she knit with long sleeves,
she just rolls them up. Front.....

and back.

Jill's second blanket she has
 woven on our guild loom.

Jill loves to embroider.  She bought this tea towel
at the Fall Fair (that Sharon W. wove) only to cut
it up and embroider on it with her very own thread
she dyed from her wold plant.

More of Jill's creations.

Carolyn V., Jill W., and Ann N. have suggested a
2/8 cotton baby blanket/table cloth sized project be
done on the big loom.  Please email Jill Wickware at
jillayne@shaw.ca if you want to participate.
The project is in the planning stages.

Jacquie is showing us some gift wrap as
she explains how we can get our colour
 inspirations from just about anything.

Oh boy, things were moving along pretty fast!
Wendy spun this gorgeous yarn from flax!

As Loanna sits watching the Show and Tell
portion of our monthly meeting, she is knitting
up swatches for our Spin Out name tags! Can't
wait for you all to see how they turned out!

Here is a close up of Michele's shawl.

This is from a new member that joined our
guild and showed us some of her beautiful
wool.  I completely forgot her name, but I did
get her business card! Welcome to our group!
This was her beautiful yarn and wool.

Ann is learning the art of Japanese Silk braiding.
Above is her sample braid.

A cowl Ann knit.

This is Kumhimo braiding using this wooden
device.  You can actually rent this from our guild.
Ann our equipment technician/facilitator of our
equipment can help you get started if you are
interested in trying it out.

Tea towels made by Louise.
