* New Venue for Shuswap Spinners & Weavers Spin-in! *

Here is the information and change of venue for the Shuswap spin-in on April 11.  New Location is St. Joseph's Catholic Church hall, a mere half block from the Fabricland store in Salmon Arm and located right downtown.

To get to the hall heading east: Turn right off the TransCanada just past the signal lights at the Husky Gas Station. If heading west: turn left off the Trans Canada at Jade Palace, there is a left turn lane pullout but no traffic lights. Follow Okanagan Ave one block to 2nd St. S.E. (on the left is Fabricland) and turn right. Turn right into the parking lot halfway up the block.

Cost: $15 for the day, including lunch

Wet Felting Workshop with Gwen Martinuk

Wet Felting Workshop

I am pleased to offer a one day basic felting workshop in which you will be learning how to wet felt a 3D  bowl/vessel using the resist technique.  Basic felting layouts and techniques will be covered,
along with how to add interest and character to your designs with non wool inclusions and simple shibori techniques.

Cost:   $95 including materials

March Meeting Minutes with Show & Tell

Gabriele called the meeting to order at 1:05
Additions to agenda - nominating committee
Adoption of minutes from February.  Mona moved, Seconded Anne, carried.
Next meeting is March 30, the last Monday of March  at 7 p.m.
Reports from:
Treasurer: Noelle has 
renewed Spin-Off for 2 years and ordered Embellish for 1 year, two books have arrived and are carded.
Equipment: labeled some new equipment.  
Library: need to get some books returned.
Historian: no report
Workshops: Rosalie's workshop on finishing techniques is on May 2.  Contact Rosalie to book a place.

Business arising from minutes:
Performing Arts Center: Some comments with regard to whether this is going ahead.  Support  the idea of having the Performing Arts Centre.
Shuswap Lake Arts Festival: Lois reported that it is July 23, 24, 25, 26 Involves the Blind Bay Hall, Shuswap Lake Estates, Sorrento Hall. 10 -  4 each day.  
$30 to join for a group membership.  Self managed  so run own till, have some interactive displays and a 15 % commission given to the organization. Wednesday is set up day. We regretfully  will not be able take part this year.  Lois to communicate our regrets as there is a conflict with another workshop and also the Art Festival is also at this same time.
Blanket warp is measured ready for threading and weaving, Ann to set up schedule for warping.
Weaving tea towels - sign - up sheet passes and will be put on the loom.
Heritage Week - good week with lots of participation and interest from the public.



Spin-In ------new venue   St Joseph's Church in Salmon Arm.  Parking lot entrance is off 2nd Street SE just to the south of Fabricland, off Okanagan Avenue.   Draw prizes (donations gratefully received in the bin in the guild room), people to help out in various areas, sheets will be circulated.  We will be able to do some set up on the Friday and are able to access the hall at 8:30 on the Saturday.  Register today to help in planning.



Sales protocol committee: 8 people on committee and it is work in progress.

Nominating committee for next year:  Carole and Bea. Thanks for volunteering.

New Business:
Sheep to Shawl Team;  additional team members needed to join Kyla, Maureen and Bea, Carole, 
Christmas Sale: Sara has talked to the Prestige about renting a venue, Sara moves we  arrange to hold our Christmas Sale at the 5 th Ave  Senior Centre. seconded Elvi.  Carried.  Date will be Dec. 5.
Spin-Ins: March 7 in Kamloops, Kalamalka on March 21, Harmonious Homestead on March 28.
Knit-Ins
Equipment organization and upkeep day, some organization was done earlier today.

Weaving Loom For Sale

It is an AVL 1997, 60", 24Harness, CD2.  It is similar to the one shown on the AVL website as A-series A60-24-CD4.  I also have a warping wheel included in the price.  The purchase price of the loom was $16,000.00.  The asking price is $10,000.00.  The loom is in excellent condition.
