Aprons for Haney Heritage Village and Museum

Some of us are making aprons to wear at Haney Heritage Museum on the days that we go spinning.  So..... on Thursday, June 7th we met at the Shuswap Middle School in the sewing/craft room to cut out our aprons.  This was for those who wanted to work on this project together.

Lis had already made her apron.

June Show and Tell

Nikki's latest knitted shawl.

Spun yarn by Nikki.

This is the yarn Ann used in her scarf.

Ann's woven a scarf.

Wool spun for Ann's woolen blanket.

Woven from mohair yarns in warp and weft.

Of course Ann has brushed and brushed this
and it is really soft!

Another blanket by Ann 100% wool
2 ply warp and singles weft

Sherry modeling a shawl made by Ann!
Sherry gave Ann the mohair for the blanket
and Ann used the rest of the mohair for this beautiful Shawl!

Did I mention Ann made this Mohair Shawl for Sherry?

Carol has been busy spinning....

and sewing....

Such a beautiful design!
Love the colours of this quilt!

Quilt up close.
Hiromi weaving a Rep weave/log cabin placemat.
From Nov/Dec 1982 Handwoven magazine.
Picture on page 46, pattern on page 94.

A number of ladies wove these beautiful placemats
some made them into table runners.

Sharon has been putting together a workshop on
sewing what you weave.

She has worked really hard putting a manual together
for her up coming workshop in Kelowna.

Sharon modeling something she sewed from
her woven material.

Lynn has woven a blanket. Tonight she was finishing her
blanket by winding the fringes. She is doing a demo
on how to use the fringe winder.

This is woven in a very loose weave.

Some of the new weavers had never seen a fringe winder.

Louise with her woven shawl, from her painted yarn.

Louise has knitted a Wedding Ring Shawl!
Amazing.... and it does go through her wedding ring!

This lady can knit! Another one of her shawls!

Cotton tea towels woven by Louise.

All Louise's tea towels! One warp.... so many colour combinations.
A table runner made by Elvi.
Louise gave a linen workshop a while ago, there were 10 squares to be made.
Each person made one square in the class and exchanged them with each other.
As a result Elvi made her squares into a table runner.

This is a crocheted  57" x 79" Family Heirloom Afghan
Darlene finished recently.  Beautiful detail!
Darlene is getting those  UFO's out of her closet!

Wendy has been busy knitting
now that skiing is over for the year!

Anne C. has been felting socks she has made from 100 %
home grown wool. Knit into CSM sock blank and dyed.

The yarn was dyed in a cake with an elastic around it to keep it
from unwinding. Anne put dye in a shallow tray and pressed 1/3
of the ball into the dye. Did that 2 more times with red, blue
and yellow, then pressed a syringe of aqua colour into each
end. Cooked in the microwave to set the dye.  Then knit!
