New
Business:
1. Year End
date for the guild and election of officers - June ? There is a problem with
planning workshops if the co-ordinator is elected in October. Kyla moved,
seconded Louise that elections be moved back to June. Discussion
included these points: Autumn is a great time for workshops. Time for
executive to gel before the fall busyness. Workshop person could organize
workshops for the fall even if they would no longer in that position.
Instructors coming from abroad need to be booked well in
advance. Maybe have two workshop people. 28 in favour.
2. Hosting a Spin-In Event in 2014. Nikki moved that we hold a multi guild spin- in and Kyla seconded. Gudrun can check out Sunnybrae community hall, other possible venues Gardom Lake, Seniors Hall, Clare's hall. Elvi suggested that we could hold it at the fair. People could make their own choice of food. Kyla suggested a separate event from the fair. Sharon mentioned she thought it was a good idea to have a separate event. Eileen mentioned it isn't necessarily a fund raiser. Rosalie thinks that their might be few choices of date. 1 opposed, 28 in favour. Committee to look into this, Kyla, Rita, Bea, Nikki, Melissa ( I hope this is correct).
3. Meeting times
for 2013 - 2014 season. Lis suggests no longer 2 meetings per month. Daytime
meetings were well attended. Lis proposes continue with evening meeting in
November, December is a social so in
evening, January cancelled. Have a daytime meeting in Feb and Mar and also a second get together in the evening sometime during the month. Louise moved we have an evening Meeting in October,
November, December, daytime meetings in February, March, and evening meetings in April, May and June. Seconded by Gabriele. 28 in favour, 1 opposed

4. Equipment rental policy needs to be followed. Discussion included these comments: we must be careful of making equipment available to everyone. Somebody might need to vouch for new members and the deposit should be cashed when the guild equipment is overdue. Maybe have the member use the equipment at the guild room for the first three months after joining. Need a mentor program to help with the use of new equipment. The Deposit cheque should be cashed if equipment is not returned by the end of the one month rental period.
