Learning
About Linen (A fee of $10 per person will be
charged).
On
Saturday Feb 23: 1:00 to 4:00 pm, Louise Smith will offer an opportunity to
learn about the fascinating fiber known as linen. Louise has given several
workshops on different topics around the province. She is an accomplished weaver
in the final stages of acquiring her Master Weaver Certificate from the Guild of
Canadian Weavers.
She
will include such topics as: brief history, processing the fiber, the count
system, types of linen, qualities of linen, challenges of working with linen and
tips for weaving and care.
Photocopied
notes will be provided (but bring a pencil to add your own
notations).
A
display of samples will be shown.
This
presentation will be held in the Salmon Arm area with the exact location
announced as soon as confirmed.
This is
open to all SSWG members and other interested persons accompanied by a member.
Participant
fee can be paid in advance at the After Dark meeting on Feb 18 or at the door on
the day of presentation.
